Louis Ng Kok Kwang is the founder of ACRES (Animal Concerns Research and Education Society), an animal protection charity he founded when he was an undergraduate in 2001. He oversaw the organisation, which focuses on fostering a spirit of volunteerism and working with the community to address animal protection issues. Upon his graduation in 2002, Louis began his career at ACRES, leading the organisation from being volunteer-run to one with an annual revenue of over S$1 million in 2014.

Since 2008, Louis has been volunteering in grassroots organisations, including in Nee Soon, Kembangan-Chai Chee and Joo Chiat. He has been a member of the Animal Welfare Legislation Review Committee and the Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration Committee since 2012, where he assisted in drafting the new animal protection legislation in Singapore.

He was elected as MP for Nee Soon GRC (Nee Soon East) in 2015. He is very active in speaking up in Parliament. He is the Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Sustainability and the Environment and is a member of the GPC for National Development.

In his first year as an MP, he set out to experience different jobs like a cleaner, a coffeeshop assistant, a healthcare worker, etc., to better understand the issues different Singaporeans face.

Louis believes in the importance of making a positive difference, and giving more than receiving. He has dedicated his life towards serving the community and treasures the various opportunities he has been given. Independent-minded in his fight for the needy and marginalised, Louis is one of the most vocal MPs.

Serving with my heart and dedicated towards strengthening the community spirit, speaking up and fighting for an even better Singapore for all.

In addition to volunteering, Louis enjoys jogging, going to the gym, reading, travelling, and wildlife watching.

Louis is married with three daughters.
